Supported Termbase Formats

You can search and add terms to MultiTerm termbases in SDL Trados Studio. If you have MultiTerm installed, you can create a termbase using that application. SDL MultiTerm is a separate application.
Supported File-based (Local) Termbases
You can use the following local termbase types from the following versions. You can search termbases, insert term translations into documents, add new terms to termbases and edit or delete termbase entries.
·         MultiTerm 2014 (all versions)
·            MultiTerm 2011 (all versions)
·         MultiTerm 2009 (all versions)
·         MultiTerm 2007 (version 7.5) and previous 7.x releases
·         MultiTerm iX (version 6.x)
NOTE
·         When you open a termbase that is created in a version previous to MultiTerm 2009 SP3/SP4 in SDL Trados Studio, you are prompted to upgrade it to the current MultiTerm version. When a termbase is converted, the converted termbase file overwrites the original termbase in the same location.
·         Once a termbase has been converted to a MultiTerm 2014 format it cannot be reverted to an earlier format.
·         If you want to work in Studio 2014 with termbases created in MultiTerm 2009/2011 or in earlier generations, such as MultiTerm 2007 and MultiTerm iX termbases, and you also want open them in the original MultiTerm application, create copies of the termbases before you open them in Studio 2014.
Supported Server-based Termbases
·         SDL GroupShare (SDL MultiTerm Server 2011 and 2014)
·         MultiTerm Server 2009 SP3/SP4
