About Editor Configurations

The layout and options in the Editor view in SDL Trados Studio change depending on what Editor configuration is used. The different configurations are designed to assist you in the different tasks you might perform when translating or reviewing. The following items may change in the Editor view when a different configuration is used:

·         The options available on the Home tab and the Review tab.
·         The statuses used to confirm or approve translations.
·         The position of the Editor window.
·         The position of the Editor view windows.
·         The windows that are displayed.
Different Editor configurations are used depending on the method you use to open a document. Also if you are opening files from a project package, the manual task assigned to the files within that package specifies which configuration is used. For example, if the Translate task is assigned, the documents from the package open using the Translation configuration. There are three types of configurations:

Description

Translation
This configuration is designed to assist you if you are translating a document and is used when you open a document for translation from the Files view or if you are assigned the Translate task in a project package. The following layout and statuses are used in this configuration:
·         The Translation Results window is displayed at the top of the application with the first match found in the document.
·         The options available on the Home tab and Review tab change so that you can select Confirm (Translated) to indicate that the translation is complete.

Review
This configuration is designed to assist you if you are reviewing a document and is used when you open a document for review from the Files view or if you are assigned the Review task in a project package. The following layout and statuses are used in this configuration:
·         The Comments window is displayed at the bottom of the application so you can enter review comments for the translations.
·         The options available on the Home tab and Review tab change so that you can select Translation Approved or Translation Rejected.
·         Track Changes is automatically enabled.

Sign-off
This configuration is designed to assist you when you open a document sign-off from the Files view. The following layout and statuses are used in this configuration:
·         The Comments window is automatically displayed at the bottom of the application to allow you to enter review comments for the translations.
·         The options available on the Home tab and Review tab change so that you can select Signed Off or Sign-off Rejected.
·         Track Changes is automatically enabled.
NOTE
Opening a document for sign-off is another level of reviewing the document. This is an optional second review stage.
