How to Get Started in SDL Trados Studio

This gives an overview of the process, for detailed instructions on the points below, refer to the other books on the Contents list.

Step 1:  Specify your Settings
Users who create projects (typically project managers) and users performing a single-file translation (typically freelance translators), should specify their settings before getting started. This includes:
·         File Type Settings
·         Batch Processing Settings
·         Translation Resources:  TMs, termbases, automated translation providers and AutoSuggest dictionaries.
You only need to set up your settings the first time you translate and then they will be automatically used every time you create a project or open a file for translation.
NOTE
If you are opening a file from a package, the default settings will already be defined for you and you can skip this step.
Step 2:  Choose a workflow:
·         Single-File Translation Workflow
·         Project Package Translation: Offline Workflow
·         GroupShare Project Translation: Online Workflow
·         GroupShare  Project Translation: Mixed Online/Offline Workflow
·         Working in a Workflow with Studio 2009 Users
