How to Create an AutoSuggest Dictionary

AutoSuggest dictionaries contain phrases extracted from translation memories (*.sdltm) or *.tmx files that can be used in AutoSuggest. AutoSuggest dictionaries are created using the New AutoSuggest Dictionary wizard.

NOTE
If you are using a Freelance edition of Studio, you can purchase an add-on that enables you to create an AutoSuggest dictionary. Review your order details to see if this was included in your purchase.
Perform the following tasks to create an AutoSuggest Dictionary
Step 1:  Choose where you want to create the AutoSuggest dictionary
1.     Choose where you want to create the AutoSuggest dictionary.
2.     In the dialog box that you chose to open, select Language Pairs > [Source Language Name - Target Language Name ] > AutoSuggest Dictionaries from the navigation tree.
3.     Click Generate to display the New AutoSuggest Dictionary wizard.
Step 2:  Select a translation memory from which you want to extract content
1.     Select a translation memory (*.sdltm) or *.tmx file from which to extract words or phrases for the AutoSuggest dictionary on the Select Translation Memory page.
2.     Click Next.
NOTE
The selected translation memory must have at least 10,000 translation units to generate an AutoSuggest dictionary.
Step 3:  Specify the language pair
1.     Specify which language pair you want to create this AutoSuggest dictionary for on the AutoSuggest Dictionary Settings page. The languages default to the languages in the translation memory (*.sdltm) or *.tmx file you selected.
2.     If you want to switch the source and target language or select a different target language, select the different languages from the drop-down lists. AutoSuggest dictionaries can only contain one language pair.
3.     Click Next.
Step 4:  Apply a filter
1.     If you want to create a filter to apply against the extracted data, you can create one on the AutoSuggest Dictionary Settings page. Only the words/phrases that match the criteria of the filter are extracted.
2.     Click Edit to display the Filter dialog box where you can create a filter to apply against the extracted data.
3.     Click Next.
NOTE
You can only create filters to apply against data extracted from a translation memory (*.sdltm file) and not from a *.tmx file.
Step 5:  Specify how many translations units to process
1.     You can specify how many translation units processed against the filter and language pairs specified from the translation memory or TMX file on the AutoSuggest Dictionary Creation Memory Usage page. This number defaults to a specified number based on the memory available on the machine on which you are creating the AutoSuggest dictionary.
2.     Click Next to accept the recommended number.
NOTE
You may need to reduce this number if you receive an error message indicating that you do not have enough memory to create the dictionary.
Step 6:  Specify where to save the AutoSuggest dictionary
If you want to specify a different location to save the new AutoSuggest Dictionary, do this on the AutoSuggest Dictionary Location page.
Step 7:  Generate the AutoSuggest dictionary
1.      When you have finished selecting your settings, click Finish to create the AutoSuggest dictionary. The Creating AutoSuggest Dictionary is displayed.
2.     When the dictionary has finished creating, the items on this page are listed as Complete. Click Close.
The dictionary is added to the list of selected AutoSuggest Dictionaries.

NOTE
To use the AutoSuggest dictionary as a source for AutoSuggest, you must first enable AutoSuggest by selecting the AutoSuggest dictionary option
