You can add files to an existing project in the Files view.
You can add them individually, or you can add a folder structure. If your files
are not for translation but you want to manage them together with the
translatable files, you can then change their usage. If you added the files to
a GroupShare project, you must also upload them to the GroupShare Project
Server by checking them in.
Step 1: Add
Files to a Project
1.
In the Files view:

Click Add Files to add files individually.
·
Click Add Folder to add a folder of files or a folder
hierarchy.
The files are added to
the project source language as translatable files.

If you want to create a folder structure before adding the files,
click New Folder.

You cannot move files in the folder structure. If you add a file
to the wrong folder you must remove it and then add it to the correct folder.

Step 2: Specify
File Usage
If your files are not going to be translated in SDL Trados Studio,
you can change the files usage to Reference or Localizable. For more
information about file usage.
To change the usage for a file:
1.
Select the file, right-click and then select Change File Usage
from the shortcut menu. The Change File Usage dialog box is displayed.
2.
Change the file usage and click OK.
3.
If you are working with reference or localizable files, go to Step
4. If you ware working with translatable files, complete Step 3 below.
Step 3: Prepare
the New Files for Translation
1.
Select the files, right-click and select Batch Tasks >
Prepare from the shortcut menu. The Batch Processing wizard is
displayed on the Batch Tasks page.

In the Tasks box, Studio shows the processes that the Prepare
task will perform on the selected files. The new files will have the same
settings used to create the original project files.
3.
If you want to view or change the project settings before
processing the files, click Next to display the Settings page.
4.
Click Finish to prepare the files for translation.
Bilingual *sdlxliff files are created and added to all target
language folders. They are also displayed in the list in the Files view
when you select a target language from the navigation pane.
(Optional) Step 4:
Upload the Files to GroupShare Project Server
If you are working with a GroupShare project, the files need to be
uploaded to Project Server so that other team members can access the files.
1.
Select the source language version of the files, right-click and
then select Check In.
2.
In the Check In dialog box, enter any details about the new
files that you are uploading and click Check In.
The files are uploaded to the Project Server and can now be
accessed by other team members. If you uploaded new translatable source files,
the sdlxliff files that were created for every target language in the project
are also automatically uploaded.
