Saving Documents

Save frequently while you work and save again after you finish editing a document. SDL Trados Studio 2014 can also automatically save your documents at regular intervals that you specify. However, the AutoSave feature is intended for unplanned disruptions, such as a power outage, and is does not substitute manual savings.

This topic describes how to save documents manually in the Editor view. For information about saving files automatically, see Use AutoSave.
When you save manually, you can only save the active document. The active document is the document currently displayed in the Editor window. To save a document that is not currently the active document, make it the active document and then save it.
Options to Save Documents
You can use the following options to save the active document:
·         Save the entire bilingual document as *.sdlxliff file. Select File > Advanced Save > Save Source As.
·         Save the target language segments to file of a selected type so that you can see what the translated document looks like. Select File > Save Target As.
·         Save the source segments only to a file of the same type as the source document so that you can see what the original source language document looked like. Select File > Advanced Save > Save Source As.
·         Save all documents that are currently open in the Editor view at the same time using File > Advanced Save > Save All.
All file save options appear in the File menu on the Ribbon.
How to Identify Unsaved Documents
When you start to edit a document, or when you restore an AutoSaved document, an asterisk (*) is added to the file name in the navigation pane, for example,.
When you save the document, the asterisk is removed and will only reappear if you edit the document again. This means that you can easily see which documents contain unsaved edits as these are the ones that have the asterisk
