How to Specify Translation Results Window Settings

This topic describes how to specify Translation Results window settings. There are a number of options for controlling how lookup results are displayed in the Translation Results window. You can choose to:

·         Show/hide the translation document segment for which lookup results are being displayed. The segment is displayed in the first row of the window.
·         Show/hide field values associated with the retrieved translation.
Translation Results Window display options are located under Editor > Translation Results Window in the Options dialog box.
Field Values
Field values are values that are stored with a new translation when the translation is added to a translation memory. Some field values contain default information such as the date the translation was added and the name of the person who added it. Default field values are always displayed in the bottom bar of the window.
Other field values are ones that you or your organization have defined. A project code or cost code for example. If you choose to display these, they appear in an extra column that is added to the window.

To specify Translation Results window settings:
1.     Select File > Options from the Ribbon. The Options dialog box is displayed.
2.     Select Editor > Translation Results Window from the navigation tree. The Translation Results Window settings are displayed.
·         To show the source segment from the document for which the translation is for in the Translation Results window, select the Show document source segment check box.
·         To show the field values in a special column that is added to the extreme right-hand side of the window, select Show translation unit field values.
·         To show the translation, exactly as it exists in the translation memory, select Show original translation unit or to show recognized tokens localized before the translation memory translation is displayed, select Show translation proposal from the Search result display mode drop-down list.
3.       Click OK to save the settings and close the Options dialog box.

NOTE
There are other settings  in the Options dialog box that control the Translation Results Window:
·         In the Options dialog box under Editor > Automation are settings that control whether lookups are performed automatically and how lookups are performed.
·         In the Options dialog box in the Text Markup Formatting section under Editor are settings that specify how differences between the translation document and the translation memory match are indicated.
·         In the Options dialog box under Language Pairs > All Language Pairs > Translation Memory and Automated Translation are settings that control which translation memories are selected by default for a language pair and how the translation memories can be used.
