How to Connect to an Automated Translation Server for a Language Pair


Typically, you would connect to an automated translation server at the All Language Pairs level. This means that the automated translation servers that are selected apply to all the language pairs. You only need to specify them at an individual language pair level as an exception. For example, if you want to use different automated translation servers or a different order for a language pair.

1.     Choose where you want to add the automated translation server.
2.             In the dialog box that you chose to open, select Language Pairs from the navigation tree. The Language Pairs settings are displayed on the right. Any language pairs for which default translation memory selections have been added, are displayed in the Language Pairs box.
3.             If the language pair for which you want to specify settings does not exist, click Add. Select the source and target language that you want to add from the Add Language Pair dialog box.
4.             In the navigation tree, expand the language pair you just added (click the plus sign preceding the language pair) and the Translation Memory and Automated Translation branch is displayed.
5.             Select Translation Memory and Automated Translation from the navigation tree.
6.             Select the Use different translation providers for this language pair check box.
7.       A prompt is displayed asking if you want to make a copy of the translation memories and automated translation servers from All Language Pairs.
·         If you want to use the same automated translation servers as specified in All Language Pairs but in a different order, click Yes to copy the translation memories and automated translation servers. Go to step 9.
·         If you want to use automated translation servers to the ones specified in All Language Pairs, click No. Go to step 8.
8.       Click Add and select one of the following from the drop-down list:
·         SDL BeGlobal Enterprise to connect to an SDL BeGlobal automated translation server. Use the SW Enterprise Translation Server option if your company has purchased an installation of Language Weaver Enterprise Translation Server and installed it on a server. Use the BeGlobal Online option if you or your company has purchased the BeGlobal hosted services (Software as a Service). This requires a user and API key for authentication.
·         SDL Language Cloud to connect to the machine translation engines that you subscribed to from your SDL Language Cloud account. The Language Cloud MT engines are trained using domain-specific content and your custom terminology dictionaries to generate translation results that require less post-editing.
·         SDL Automated Translation to connect to the free SDL community automated translation server or an automated translation server of your own.
·         Google Translate to connect to the Google Translate automated translation server. This is now a paid for service that requires an API key. The API key you enter here will update all other projects that use Google Translate.
9.             Use the Up and Down arrows to change the order of the automated translation servers and translation memories.
10.          Click OK to close the dialog box.

NOTE
Using Google Translate, SDL Language Cloud or an SDL Automated Translation Server may violate your non-disclosure agreement with your translation customer. Check with your customer before connecting to these translation providers. The SDL XLIFF bilingual file records if you have used one of these providers during translation.
