Creating and Managing Projects

SDL Trados Studio is a project based translation management system. All files are translated and managed as part of a project. A project may contain a single file or many files for translation into one language or several languages. It may also contain reference material, translation memories, termbases, AutoSuggest dictionaries and instructions for translators.

Once a project has been created, the project manager can manage all aspects of project effort and monitor project progress using the project management tools in SDL Trados Studio.
Projects: Offline and Online Workflows
When you create a project in Studio, you can then choose to follow an offline or online workflow. An offline workflow uses packages to distribute work to the different team members. An online workflow stores the project as a server-based project on GroupShare Project Server. Team members can then connect to the GroupShare server to access the work that needs to be completed.
Project Management Tools
SDL Trados Studio's project management tools automate project creation, centralize project data management and track projects. These are the key features of project creation and management in SDL Trados Studio:
·         Automated project creation.
·         Pre-translation of project files by applying translation memories.
·         Production of translation analysis figures during project creation.
·         Project managers can track project progress at project, language and file level.
·         Assign, distribute and receive work through the use of packages in an offline workflow.
·         Monitor project progress in 'real time' at project, file and language level for server projects.
